Soldier Quilts are made and given to the wounded who are air lifted to Walter Reed Hospital for treatment. The project was started by the Quiltguild of Southern Maryland, with help from the Beginners and Beyond Yahoo Group, and will continue as long as there is a need. These very special quilts are not for show judges, but for our wounded who need the encouragement and support. Many have a long way to go to heal. They asked for red, white and blue, but will accept any colors. Unfortunately they are arriving 48 a day from Iraq. Any help you can give will be much appreciated.
Finished quilts, tops or blocks--they'll all help.
Sizes needed on finished quilts:
Quilts should be no smaller that 36x36
42x42 is a good wheel chair size
45x60 for the stretcher.
You can make any block pattern you choose. Would like Red/White/Blue, for a man or lady. They do not have to be RWB though-- if you have orphan blocks, or other colors you would prefer to use, that's great.
