I'm Doing a Big Time Happy Dance!
Everytime I finish a project, I do a little "happy dance". Today, I'm dancing big time! My "Guest Cabin" quilt is complete. (See pic below.) Yee hah!
Its name comes from the pattern (Log Cabin) and the place where it will reside (Our Guest Futon). This was my first attempt at Log Cabin -- which I found fun, fast and easy -- and hand quilting -- which I found slow and challenging. I learned lots. There's a notable difference in the size and consistency of stitches in the first block and the 42nd block. (If there's an award for "most improved hand quilter", I'm definitely in the running!)
A note of gratitude to two fellow quilters who helped with this creation. My sister-in-law Allison, who inspired this quilt with her gift of a four-block log cabin wall hanging. It was a joy to copy! And, to my dear friend Jean who provided gobs of advice and encouragement and even lended her hoop to the cause. Jean even got down on her knees for this project. She offered her floor and her hands (and knees) to the basting process. Without her help, I'd still be basting this thing!
Now, all this quilt needs is a guest! I know it will be enjoyed by many for years to come.
Happy. Happy. Joy. Joy.
(That's the happy dance!)
