Hot off the Singer: My first Roman Shade

I'm celebrating Martha's pending release from prison by dressing up the Stitcher/THC master suite with the first of two new window dressings. I bought the fabric last fall in KC for $2 yard. (Ever try to carry-on 10 yards of decorator fabric?) It feels great to finally put it to use.

The second shade will be about three times the width of this one. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be three times the work, now that I (sorta) know what I'm doing.

It's definitely a good thing.

Thanks! The shade is really pretty easy. I'm using the instructions in the Sunset "Curtains, Draperies & Shades" book. (You can find it at most decorator fabric stores or at www.sunsetbooks.com.) They're really easy to understand. The biggest challenge is finding space to work, because you're working with huge lengths of fabric. I've cleared most of the furniture out of one room and am spending a lot of time crawling around on the floor. That's not much fun. I'm jealous of those wonderful big work tables they have on "Trading Spaces"!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
