Looking for the Knitty Gritty
Will I learn to knit in this lifetime? I've been asking myself that question. And, I know there are some knitters who pass by these pages. I'm looking for some insight and inspiration from ya'll.
I've really enjoyed having a project that keeps me busy as we watch TV. While I have no inclination to do any more hand quilting (I'm checking that off my "life's to do list") , I am exploring other possibilities for future "sofa" projects. I was once a cross-stitcher, but my enthusiasm for that has wained.
Knitting looks fun. I stopped by a yarn store the other day and fell in love with so many yarns.
Getting to play with those wonderful fibers would be a treat! It seems like it could be a bit meditative (like hand quilting) and it's so practical....like quilting, you make stuff you can actually use.
Blogging friends, please give me the knitty gritty. What do you love about it? What's the most frustrating? How did you learn? Was it easy? Please share your words to the wise. I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks!

I learned from my sister when I was in high school and picked up the rest from a class I took ... in those long ago married days with no children. It always seemed easy to me ... sorry no insights. I would advise a class as it seems to help to have "hands on" for getting started. Then the books (Knitting for Dummies is highly recommended) make more sense. Look at it this way, we have taught countless of H's & R's friends to knit and given away more sets of #10 needles than you can shake a stick at. If a 6th grader can learn to do it (several years ago) I KNOW that you can! :-)

Julie - And you never taught me at college? Bummer! I can put myself in my "6th grade mind" and learn. I just know it!
Thanks for your insight!
