Proud to be a Newbie Knitter
A few weeks ago I posted something about wondering whether knitting would be among my life's learnings (in this life, anyway). The question has been answered. Yes!
KnittingHelp.com is a wonderful resource for visual learners like me. (There are lots of videos!)
After pushing the "play" button many times, I got the hang of casting on (after about the 50th attempt) and the knit stitch.
I played with a skein of cheap acrylic worsted weight (in cherry red) and created my first scarf. It looks like a first scarf, too! It has its share of dropped and twisted stitches and other mysteries. (I have lots to learn about correcting my mistakes!) It's a wonderful reminder of what it is to try something new!
I bought larger wooden needles (I really like those) to play with a skein of cheap acrylic lofty yarn (multi-colored to reduce boredom). Scarf #2 took shape in the time it took to watch a movie last night! It's much better than my first attempt....actually wearable!
Now it's time to move on to "purling".
And, of course, there's always this quilt to work on!
