Busy Hands

Before I dive into my projects for the New Year, I'm spending the first couple of days of 2005 trying to finish up one of last year's projects. I'm just four blocks shy of finishing the hand quilting (That's right...HAND quilting) on a queen-size coverlet log cabin quilt. 38 down. 4 to go.

This is my first attempt at hand quilting. And, it's true that taking on a queen-size piece in your first effort is not recommended. Most people try a hot pad, or a pillow or a small wall hanging first. But, not me!

I signed this quilt, and dated it 2004. So, I feel pressured to get it done before we get too far into 2005. The rainy weather is adding extra incentive to stay in and stitch. And, all of these football games have provided a great excuse to sit on the sofa and keep my hands busy.

Such is the life of the Merry Stitcher in the New Year!
